Just got my score today, and got a 265/99, I could not believe my score, its a 21 point improvement for my step 1 score of 244/99.
I took my test on september 2nd, this is how i studied
I studied for 3 months
I read some Kaplan Books, I read the internal medicine book, the psychiatry, the first half of the surgery book, skipped the vignettes, I read the OB section of the kaplan book and skipped the Gyn section. I did half of Q book, and gave up to divert my attention to other things. I studied the USMLE secrets book.
The main thing is that I did a lot of questions, and a lot less reading than I did for step 1
I finished all of Q bank and averaged 60% on first try
I finished all of U world and averaged 69% on first try
I scored 75% on my simulated Kaplan exam
For every test I did, I made sure I read the answers and explanations thoroughly, I started out taking notes, but eventually gave up on doing that.
I did not do NBMEs, because most people that did them got depressed and lost confidence, since there is no feed back on what questions you got wrong, and no explanations, I figured I didn't need the unnecessary depression. lol
Two days before the test, i did the released questions, got about 88% correct. Took the day before the test off, but would occasionally panic and flip through USMLE secrets, LOL
So i finally got my score back, and wow am I pleased, so I hope these tips help some other people. Good luck to the others still studying!!!

thanks guys, I hope my tips help others out. You should read books during your rotations. But when studying for your test, do a lot more questions and less reading

Thanks everyone.
In response to DR.ELSADIG, No i did not watch videos. I watched 2 hours of Kaplan Videos, the month before I started studying and decided it was not for me. I spent most of my time doing questions, and reading the explanations of the questions

hello and congrats!
I noticed your score on q bank -60% .was it the ALL NEW kaplan q bank?do you find it usefull? almost all questions seem to have the note : "we are still gatherting information for this new question".or did you solve their ORIGINAL q bank?

Yes I did the new Qbank, and true, most of the questions had that note about gathering information. I found qbank useful to study, I did it subject by subject. I did not use the old qbank however. IMO, the more questions you practice the better off you will be. I did USMLE world closer to the test and I am happy I did, because I found it to be more relevant to the real test.
