it might take longer, since thay have to verfiy your diploma/degree from yur country and that might take time. first time it takes longer.once u get your i.d than applying again is easier.
check "first aid for usmle 2004" book -it might help u understand the procedure better

i have the same question too. i mailed my application on march 15, 2004. by march 22, ECFMG has already taken my payment from the credit card but up to now i still cannot get into the OASIS. i already have the account no. but i cannot access my data over their website. i guess it's really taking them a long time to process our papers!

Have you all checked your email? ECFMG emails you as soon as they have your completed and approved applications. They then send an email saying your orange confirmation ticket is in the mail. I submitted my online application April 10. My school submitted the printed sheet sometime the following week. I recieved an email from ECFMG on May 5th stating that my ornage ticket is on its way. So that's just under a month, however, I have yet to recieve my orange ticket (should be any day now).

Can I ask you guys something?In order for a complete application to go what else do you send along with your application forms.To the best of my knowledge its 2full face photos,bank draft,xerox copies of medical diploma and medical school transcript.Is there anything else which goes along with the application?Also I read somewhere the xerox copies of the diploma/transcript has to be a certain size/dimension.....is that true?
I intend to give the exam in my home country which apparently is listed as 'intenational' in the application form for test center.So how do I book my test center in my home country.....do I do it via prometrics once I get my USMLE number or does the ECFMG book the test center for me??

I mailed my application April 13 they received it april 15.They sent me an E mail saying they received it and since then I am checking OASIS like crazy almost 3-4 times aday. Today is May 8 and I did not hear from them. I will get crazy if they reject my application for silly reasons,because I want to take my exam in June.
Guys I am becoming an Obsessive Compulsive person. I just do not understand why they are so careless about our applications. They reject your application WITHOUT EVEN TRYING to call you.

Perses.....from the expereince from my friends,they mentioned that it takes upto a month to process the application.....so don't worry.

Hi everyone:
I have the same problem. I have my aplication (I have the diploma sent and verified last year) sent on March 24th and the credit card has already honored but I still see that my application is still been processing. I was and I am still concerned about it so I called to ECFMG when a month was completed. They told me that there were a lot of applications to be processed so it took longer.
I don't know what it is really happening but I feel some relief to hear that I am not the only one.

u really got to give them time. since they are gonna go with what they say.if someone is trying to take exm because of their personal schedule, he or she have to realiize that after getiting orange ticket u have to call prometric for exam day and than u have to go with day and time they offer u
GOOD LUCK
MY SUGGESTION.KEEP ON STUDYING AND DO NOT STRESS .

do not worry about your apllication..they processed mine in more than 3 weeks, maybe it was more than a month.. I kept trying on OASIS< but the answer was, that they still did not get it .I phoned to them, but the answer came on OASIS more than a week after...I do not think you should worry..Jsut think positive, and wait..and study..I tried to do the same

You are the one who choose the center they dont
You apply for the center you wish in Asia
Its not true about certain dimensions of Diploma.
And the documents:2 photos,transcribt must be sent directly from your school not by you.2 copies of Diploma and if you changed name marriage certificate.thats all but very often they get confused if you change name so they might ask you for a letter of verification from your Dean since any change is a disaster and since you are foreigner and you do not have a social security you have to bring them an EXTRA PROOOOOOOOOOOOF!

Hi all,
If you are expecting ur applications to be accepted within 2 or 3 weeks, then u are really wrong! I sent an application on march19th, it was received on march22nd. and it was not until the 6th of may that they accepted my application!(thats 6 weeks+). bearing in mind that I have already sent all my credentials and they are verified, they say it is because there is too much load on the ecfmg?! So I think for those who are applying for the first timeit might take even longer, but they don't usually reject applications for silly reasons its either that the application is defficient or there are problems with ur name!!
Anyway good luck for all, I know it feels hard to wait, but try 2 forget it and concentrate on ur studying.
and believe me it will come when u are least expecting it!!!

But I want to schedule my exam I do not have that much time.
And you know what? If a document missing they do not let you know
They wait and wait untill your aplic.is EXPIRED thats what make me crazy.
You think everything is OK you even call them spend your time and money for the call. they verify it that everything is fine. After a while you receive your rejected aplication because they lost a copy of your medical Diploma or your photos. You can NEVER trust them! They loose documents and instead of appologising to you they send your aplication back saying that its not complete.I wish to see what kind of people are working there!

I submitted my oline application/payment April 10 (and received confirmation that my school sent the other form about a week after). I just received my orange confirmation ticket on May 11. However, this is my third attempt at taking Step1, so I have experience applying. The first time it took 6 weeks between applying and receiving my orange ticket because I had to retype the diploma title name in the original language it was being issued, then resubmit my application. The second time, it took 5 weeks because one of the pictures got lost and I had to resubmit another one. So I understand your frustration "perses". This time around I was fully prepared and sent in everything as required. Assuming you did the same thing and the problem is from their end, then all you can do at this point is re-submit what is missing. BUT most importantly as "cipro2004" said study because that'll show em when you ace the exam! Best of luck perses and to all

Thanks Drpsych for your reply. At least I am NOT ALONE! but I still think about my aplication from time to time with a fear that SOMETHING will GET LOST AGAIN! and I will LOOSE time again posting my aplication.You can not Imagine how frustrated I am about this ...............Behavior!

ECFMG finally updated my application and just a few minutes ago I was able to access my file in OASIS. it took them 1 1/2 months to process it! for the others who are still waiting, don't despair! they are really slow in getting things done but you'll eventually get there! on to my studies again...

Perse , I was having the same proble , but what I did is I called (215) 386-5900 .it take for ever to answer but stay on the line, they will answer and they explain to me that the mail get lost and they send me a new one, do not get worry, they will send you the approval.

I had the same concern I passed my application form last april 15 and they acknowledge my application last april 21. But I didn't heard from them since then. I tried to access thru web but they told me that my Biological data does not match with them. I tried to call them but they let me wait for a long time in the phone. :cry:

Elsa that was my same problem, I could really say that I wait for almost 15 minutes. this is true. Call them and wait you are the person who wants to take the test,that man on the line is a BAD BOY.
