1. What's the incidence of macrosomia in fetus of DM type 1 or type 2 mothers? a - 10% b - 20% c - 30% d - 50% e - 80% 2. Macrosomia increases the risk for C-section and: a - cardiovascular disease b - renal disease c - intracranial hemorrhage and jaundice d - neonatal infections e - necrotizing enterocolitis

dont know the percentages but cardiovascular diseases is answer for 2nd part of the question.

1. 20% in diabetic mom and ~ 10% in non-diabetic 2. Macrosomia ** Maternal: - higher incidence of C-section (double that of control subjects) - birth canal lacerations with vaginal delivery - Postpartum hemorrhage and blood transfusion ** Fetal - birth trauma (3-7%) with shoulder dystocia (9.2-24%); brachial plexus injuries (1-4%); and death (0.4%) ** Neonatal - hypoglycemia (50%) - polycythemia - electrolyte disturbances (up to 50%) - NICU admissions - congenital anomalies, particularly congenital heart disease

whats the answer? in my opinion 1 (dunno mostly 20%) 2= ICH and jaundice? arllete you gave contradicting answers

hmm I think if the Q was which is increased in babies born to Diabetic mothers , it would be cardiac disease. But as for Macrosomia it increases incidence of Intracranial haemorrhage , i think. not sure it is c or a

yes youre right yukti, for macrosomia, answer is h'ge and jaundice, otherwise generally any baby born to diabetic moother has higher incidence of cardiac anomalies, first when i answered i didnt read that macrosomia increases.....is the format of the question

Sorry, guys, I messed up when trying to correct whitedove, I repeated what he said, so I edited my post. The correct is: 50% and what yukti_5 said is right: macrosomia increases the incidence of IC hemorrhage and jaundice. Sorry again.
