I scored 91/pass/81,all at the first attempt, need visa, 1 month clerkship
doing internship in home country.

I wanna do IM residency in the USA, immigrate in the end.

I planned to participate 2010 match, but hesitate due to low step2 score and no US MD's LOR.

Someone told me completing residency in home country can raise chance to get interview and match.

Is it real?

slightly, it depends on the program director and his prevoius experience with similar cases.

I agree. "No US LOR" is something you can change. Not easy, but what is?

You can't change your scores once you passed the tests. But you can get USCE and consequently american LORs if you really put effort on it. wink

Most candidates with excellent scores are not getting interview from top places because of lack of USLOR, one of our Asso Pd told me that they have seen so many 99's this year that the only way they can differentiate between them is to see what US docs are saying about them.

Well this might not be true for some programes but what arlete said is important havin USLOR would enhance your chances of getting interviews significantly.
