Hi All,
i have two questions
1) How can one apply for observerships and if anybody knows ,which hospitals offer observerships in Massachusets ?

) How can one apply for observerships and if anybody knows which hospitals offer observerships in Massachusets ? Telephone calls and ask them if they offer observership/externship

2) Comparing researchjob and observership , which is better ( when applying for residency programs ) Two different things. Research will get you one kind of experience, observing will get you another. What kind of residency are you looking for? Is the research in a related field? Are you actually going to do research or just scut for the head researcher? Do you need to hone your medical skills? Do you need exposure to the US systems? These are questions that you (and anyone else in your situation) need to ask themselves!

Hi ,

Thanks for your email , it was very informative but i kept looking for my query in step2 forum,so i am late in replying .

For the questions you've asked , i am interested in Internal Medicine residency and will apply for 2004 residency . Since i am an IMG , Yes , i definitely need an exposure to US health system before i should start residency . Secondly, while preparing for USMLE exams made me more aware of the geographical and cultural differences in the health care delivery in our home countries and USA , i should be more acquainted to the system here and ofcourse, to better my medical skills .

I was able to understand more from your post that i should be looking for observership. Which hospitals in MA offer observerships ?

Thanks for the help .
