Exercise leads to symp stimulation that should increase both heart rate and contractilty. but book says increased volume work in exercise is carried out by increase in heart rate rather than increase in stroke vol. why contractilty is not increased in this case?? (kaplan physio page 200)

An increased HR allows less time for the heart to fill. Contractility is increased, in the form of greater force of ejection, but HR is so increased, that the heart actually pumps less blood per stroke than previously.
