does anyone know why one of the complications of restrictive cardiomyopathy is mitral regurgitation (MR)? what is the mechanism? Isn't MR often asso. with dilated heart? thanks.

You are right dear. But ultimate fate of restrictive cardiomyopathy is the Congestive heart failure in which mitral regurgitation is not uncommon Best of luck

Eagle_303, thank you. But the thing is it seems that restricted heart cannot dilate. Dilated heart is the cause of regurgitation. So no matter how failed the heart is, no dilation, no regurgitation. Is it reasonable to say?

AV valve regurg does occur in restrictive cardiomyopathy but is definitely not characteristic. Both atria can be enlarged in this pathology.
