Hi guys!As you know New York State doesnt accept residents or fellows having done more than 12 weeks clerkships away from their country.The problem is that i have exceed this limit,i ve done 13 weeks.These clerkships although were not for credit and they do not appear in my transcript.So,to get the N.Y. license can I waive to mention them(not fill up the respective forms,or mention just 12 weeks uscle)but mention them in ERAS?Do you think this will cause any problems?Any feedback from sbdy who knows more about the procedure of getting the license will be highly appreciated.Thanx and good luck!!!

thanx truemamamia!I ve emailed NYSED and they told me to ask the department of health for residency requirements.Unfortunatelly I cannot find an email address in that site appropriate for this query.I would be really grateful to you or to sbdy else who could inform about this or write a personal experience!

If the clerkship did not count toward diploma, it is usce, not electives

thanx papio but let me ask you sth:I got confirmations of attendance for these clerkships which refer to them as clinical electives,so how should i mention them to cv(as electives or sth else....)?

hi sprinter ,
i am also have same problem , i am doing a elective now , i have 3 month of elective to do, and i also have chance to do 2 more months(8weeks){if i apply for eletcive they will give }, i am in dilemma whether to do or not plz help me any thing u know .i am not applying for 2009 match,but i apply for 2010 match,my medical school does not include these in electives in my official transcript,

hi sprinter,
i have phone no of concerned person in new york state educational deparment,518-402-1003: Courtney(his name) ,i talked to him he explained everything but he said if they findthat if u did >12 wks electives in ny u will never get licence from new york board
