captopril cures proteinuria in D.M. However, it also causes proteinuria. That is to say, captopril should not be used in treating renal dysfunction in Diabetes, right? Thank you.

good point- newer ace inhibitors are better than captopril-in regards to side effects. second point is- any drug can be used if renal parameters are monitored. but it is a valid argument. ace inhibitors are good for micro albuminuria- prolly not tht good in full blown renal damage.

captopril is helpful in diabetic nephropathy but contra-indicated for renal artery stenosis.

so the reason for captopril causing proteinuria is renal artery stenosis ????or is there another mechanism for which ace inhibitors cannot be used for full blown kidney damage. can somone explain id really appreciate its
