Thirst is stimulated by

A- An increase in plasma osmolality

B- An inrease in plasma osmollality and a decrease in plasma volume

C- A decrease in plasma osmolality and an increase in plasma volume

D- A decrease in plasma osmolality and volume

E- Injection of vassopresina into the hypotalamos

mani, I don't know the answer but the way i reasoned it is:

when u sweat, u loose hypotonic fluid, meaning more water than salt. This will decrease ur plasma V but will increase ur osmolality. However, I am not sure.

I thought Kaplan physio book was gold on some topics.

Drinking is regulated by plasma osmolality and extracellular fluid volume in much the same way as vasopressin secretion.Thirst, thereford,is estimulated by aan increase in plasma osmolality and a decrese in plasma volume.
Vasopressin is often called the ADH.It increase the permeability of the collectin renal tubes.so the water enter the hypertonic intertitium of the renal pyramids. The urine becomes concentrated, and its volume decrease. The overall effect is thereford retention of water, and decrease in the osmolaslity of the body fluids. Thus, sensation of thirst is suppressed.

So answer is B as Bela.
