Hello Guys, I am new in this forum and I am pleased to be with you!! I am a 2nd year Medical Student studying in Syria. I am thinking of preparing for the USMLE starting from now, because I believe that my university does not prepare us at ALL. We sometimes do not finish the material, for example we had so many uncovered topics in Embryology that we did not have time for, same with reproductive system in Physiology and many more!! The point is that what do you guys think is the best way to prepare for the USMLE?? Which books do you recommend me to study from? I believe that my English is very good so I would not have language problems, but remember that the material is new to me so I need some books that I can understand!! I feel so lost, people talk about Kaplan courses,UW,NBME... I know it is too soon to think about such things, but how do u guys manage to get all those things?? I mean the guys who live in 3rd world countries where technology is still not well established!! sorry to bore you with questions, I just count on u guys Your brother A.Attiya Salam

you can download kaplan books and the audios. best way to prepare yourself is to do questions every night. just do 20-30 every night...wont take more than 30 mins out of your time main problem that IMGs have with USMLE is not that they dont know the material, its that they are not used to the qn style as the american students. american students have multiple choice qns all throughout their medical school, so in essense they have been peparing for it for 2 yrs before they write it. you can do the same.

If you study in Dam. you will find all the books that you need in book-stores near your school. Ask senior students, they will help you out a lot. There are Syrian Forums for medical students too, check them out. I am sure you will find some help over there. Try to familiarize your self with the American review books. Read them along your school courses. Don't let one project kill the other. Try to work on both sides in a balanced manner. Good luck. Note: no, I do not study in Syria!
