A 34-year-old woman and her husband come to your office with a chief complaint of inability to conceive for 4 months. The patient states she has been consistently getting her period every month. She denies heavy flow, but complains of pain and tenderness along her lower abdomen at the time of her menstruation. Further questioning also reveals pain during intercourse and occasionally painful bowel movements.
