peekay is correct again 1)carbidopa is dopamine decarboxylse inhibitor(doesnt cross BBB) USMLE wants you to know it decreases the metabolism of levadopa in the GI and peripheral tissues 2)It will lower the dose of levadopa 5 fold and decrease the severity of side effects of peripherally formed dopamine 3)Odd- The answer to your q is that adding carbidopa doesnt increase the efficacy of the combo more but it increases the availability of levadopa to the CNS.
