Hi All, This question may seem stupid, but I need to post it. I am a FMG graduated in 2004, ECFMG certified (2005), passed Step 3 (Feb.2006) with some US expericence and need a visa. I passed step-1 (77) in 3rd attempt, Step-2(79),CS and Step-3(78) all in 1st attempt. I got three IVs in 2006 but didn't match. I didn't get any IV last year. I'm not doing any observership/externship after Jan,07, because of family & health problems. With this low scores and attempts, its going to be hard to get a residency. I want to know, whether I can retake the steps again? Is there any cut-off year, after that the exam become invalid and you need to take it from the beginning? Also I lost my ECFMG certificate during moving from other state. Can I request a new one from the ECFMG? Sorry to bother you all in busy days. I would really appreciate your reply. Thanks in advance. Regards, AR

You cannot retake any exams for 7 years....After 7 years, your scores become invalid and you must retake the exams

You may want to take a look at puerto rico. They have their own type of residency called criolla and it doesn't take much to get in I believe. Its worth a shot.
