I GOT MY REPORT TODAY - I PASSED IT! :lol:
THE SCORE IT NOT SO GREAT THOUGH- 80/197, BUT CONSIDERING MY SITUATION I WAS EXTREMELY PLEASED TO GET THIS RESULT.
I HAVE JUST COUPLE WORDS FOR THOSE WHO ARE GETTING READY.
IF I DID IT, YOU CAN TOO. STAY FOCUSED AND BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.
ONCE YOU PASSED IT YOU ARE CLOSER TO YOUR DREAM AND IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU ARE A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED WITH YOUR SCORE, 10 YEARS FROM NOW YOU WONT CARE, YOUR SUCCESS IS NOT YOUR EXAM SCORE, IT'S A HARD WORK WAY BEYOND THE EXAMS AND RESIDENCY.
I DO NOT WANT TO DIMINISH SUCCESS OF SOME STUDENTS WHO GOT OVER 90! I KNOW WHAT A HARD WORK THAT IS AND GIVE YOU GUYS A LOT OF CREDIT ! GREAT JOB, YOU DESERVED IT! :!:
I JUST WANTED TO SAY SOME ENCOURAGING WORDS FOR THOSE WHO ARE STRUGLING RIGHT NOW - CHEER UP, YOUR DAY WILL COME!

i would like to apologize for "yelling", guys, i am really dumm in this forum stuff, so my husband just updated me on how rude i was!

just to give an idea on how i was getting ready for the exam:
very simple:
kaplan lecture notes 2001 edition- knew almost by hard
kaplan center prep
kaplan q bank- 70 % correct answers.
that's it!

thank you all so much for all the good words and wishes, it really does feel great to know that you are one step closer to your dream. 
as to how long i have studied for my step 1 is very difficult to say, becuase i was working full time all the time and still do, on top of all the family responsibilities. It took me about 18 months. If I would put all the time together that I spent on preparation it was probably about 9-10 months- yes I am a slow learner. But it's me and every situation is unique as well as people, so it could take you about 3-6 months to get absolutely ready for the event!
Just keep in mind that if person like me, who never was really that sharp in school with always medium scores could come to america and in 2 years to get ready for such a huge exam on the absolutely different laguage and learn absolutely different approach to the medicine, then ANYONE CAN DO IT! no excuses!

yes, forgot to give you my scores on usmle CD- it was pretty steady- about 35 right ansewrs per block, so, i think it's very helpful for self assesment.
