Some say its better to apply early before they give out all interviews, but others say its better to wait till application is more complete or complete because then they wont toss it out immediately. However, most people agree that first couple of weeks in September is not late. good luck.

Hi Mugs, I don't think there's much you can do now to improve ur chances. Like u said, you've done everything you can to improve your cv. Since we're already in the application season, i think u can only increase chances by applying very very broadly to as many programs as you can afford and to a lot of community programs. Your creds are pretty good and there are places that specify a certain score requirement before offering interviews and your score will probably affect u in these places. But like i said, try to apply as broadly as u can and that should help. As for me, there were places that have requirements that i might not have met, but i let the wallet decide. As long as i had an extra $25 to spare, i was going to apply to one more. Let them deny me, not me deny myself before even applying You never know. If you go back and read these forums, you'll find people who have matched with scores than yours and those who did not match with better scores than you had. All it takes is someone to see u as more than CK/79 and offer u an interview and then you can show them what a competent and capable physiscian you'll be.

i have no idea. I have research fellowship as well, but from what i hear, it won't really matter much for community programs - who look more at US clinical experience. the research, i guess might be more helpful for academic institutions.

i have no idea. a lot of places specifically say on their website that they don't consider observerships or research as US clinical exp.
