I'm sure he/she meant that he would be applying to radio/anesthesia while doing 1st year of categorical med, basically going through the entire match process again...

Okay, you start a new program, work 2 months, ask for a LOR from your program director telling them that you matched into categorical, but you want prelim because your heart really isn't into Categorical. Great. Then you want time off to interview, leaving your other interns to work harder so that you can have time off to interview. Even nicer. Promise me you won't even apply to my program. Please.
