What is the RX of Gardinella Vaginalis in Pregnancy? Do we have to give rx for the partner also ?Please answer.

Rx for bacterial vaginosis in preg is clinda in 1st tri or metro in 2nd or 3rd clinda cream is doc u dont have to rx the partner because this is actually an endogenous infxn...meaning that it is overgrowth of normal bacterial inhabitants of the vagina. remember the CLUE CELLS and anaerobes with a fishy odor, pos whiff test and pH > 5.0

METRONIDAZOLE only no treatment for partner. ?Clindamycin -DOC - ? I too have doubts .Macrolides are hepatotoxic mostly.????? I may be wrong . But does clinda has any advatage over metro ; Do anyone remember any complication with clinda IUGR ? abortions? preterm? any malformation - probably need to see pharma book.

penicilins, cephalosporins and macrolides are safe during hole pregnancy. Metronidazol is teratogenic in the first three months! 1st tri.: clinda topic
