hi guys,
I have recently passed my step-2ck and now in my OASIS account it shows something like this:"you have met all the criteria required for ecfmg certification............"But I haven't received my certificate yet...but still I want to apply for residency programs..can I update NOW in my CAF as I am certified or I must wait until I actually RECEIVE it by mail????????because some programs requires certification at the time of the application.....confused...please share your comments on this one

I am in the same boat, not sure what to say, I am thinking that I will say I am certified and put month of sept as certification month. what do you guys think

Where does it say you 'met all requirements for ECFMG certification'???
Mine simply says 'your credentials have been received and are verified', and i've cleared all my exams, so I am expecting my ECFMG certification soon...I guess all of us are in the same boat...

it should say "met all requirements for ECFMG certification" right beneath your latest score report pdf link in red letters.
You should make sure with ECFMG that everything is good to go for your certification.

For some reason, it doesn't say that...of course my verification was the last part to come in, not my scores, maybe that's the reason...

It had the message " Youhave met all requirements for certification and we will send it in the next 2 weeks " something like that ...only on the day I got my result and another couple of days after that . Then it just disappeard and now there is the empty place of where the issued date will be . So don't worry , yours probably was there too .
If you want to be 100 % sure you can call ECFMG .
I think I'm gonna say certified and issue date in September

why has to take 6 to 8 weeks to send a dam certificate?

It takes 4-8 weeks for verification...after verification, it takes a maximum of 10 business days to send out the certificate....

I am in the same boat. When I called them what status will show up in the ECFMG status report to the programs, they said.. "NOT CERTIFIED"

I am gonna contact programs individually who downloads my applicaiton before my status changes to let them know that I am "ELIGIBLE".

This is what I found in the ECFMG booklet
"If you apply to residency programs through ERAS, ECFMG will send an electronic ECFMG Status Report automatically to all of the programs to which you apply. If your ECFMG certification status changes during the ERAS application season, ECFMG will send an updated status report automatically to all programs to which you have applied."
So we must actually wait for the certificate before applying and changing the CAF ..otherwise there will be a discrepancy . Or apply as not certified . I don't know what is worse !

I just called ECFMG and they said it might take up 3 weeks because they have some delays with the ECFMG certificates . So I'll go ahead and apply as non-certified .

That's interesting...First, I'm surprised you actually got through to ECFMG...and I got my certificate within days of my verification, actually sent out in less than a week, it was shipped out yesterday morning....

Hello everyone I've been reading this thread and would like to add the same question but with a little twist. My situation is a bit different. I took all of my exams while still in medical school and I graduated this July. So the only thing missing for me to become ECFMG certified was my diploma and transcripts which I sent out July 22. I just got off the phone with ECFMG and they say that my documents are going to be sent today to my school! I can't believe that it took more than a month for them to send out my packet to my school.
Does any one know roughly how long it will take ECFMG to issue me a certificate once they receive the packet back from my school?? This whole process is nerve wracking, the least ECFMG could do is work more efficiently for our sanity sake.

I know chicagodoc ! I was so hopefull after talking to you ! I FINALLY got through to ECFMG ..i was on hold for almost 20 minutes and then the guy who answered asked me how long ago I got my last result and I said last week and then he said "" ohh then it's too soon " , it now takes aprox 3 weeks !
I asked him to look and see if maybe I was scheduled to receive it today and he said " NO , it says it's still in progress "
So i just decided to apply to the programs who don't require the certification .

stomping 2ck,
I hate to tell you that but your credentials won't be verified until 2 months later (assuming there's no problem with the back-and-forth mails). That was what happened to me 2 months ago.
