Hi, I am an img from India. I did 1 year of compulsory rotating internship as a part of MBBS after my final year. Will that be counted as work exp or training? If considered as training, where do I need to mention on the CAF Appreciate your feedback. Thanks Good Luck

Hi, if you were required to do your internship as part of your medical education and prior to receiving your medical diploma then internship is not considered as work or training experience. But if you received your medical diploma prior to doing your internship then you can put it under work experience in the CAF. God bless.

Well I am not sure about that doc Harry.I have put it under work because even though it came before graduation date, we were paid for it and hence I would consider it as work experience. Also,we actually worked......

Also, the training section has no provision for describing what was done so that would be a big disadvantage

I will have to agree with docharry on this one.. it's before graduation, hence its part of the medical curriculum in your country.. eventhough you say you got paid for doing it.. i bet its just a stipend.. but of course.. you can do whatever you think is right in your CAF.. just my two cents..

I was also under the same impression, that since the internship was required as part of graduation requirement, it is not work experience per se. What is the majority consensus on this?

Include it as part of your education and say your graduation date is when you finish the 1 year internship...if it is compulsory to get a degree, it is not training or work experience...also, it will make you a more recent grad which is important...

ok guys I asked a senior of mine and he said that mentionig it as work is no problem so long as you clarify during interviews that it is a compulsory requirement for graduation. Also dates of attendance of medical school to be mentioned such that it includes internship. And then date of graduation is obviously after internship so that still makes you a recent graduate.

Well good luck to you WTMB. I hope writing that under work experience won't confuse the PDs.

Ultimately, as bbb had said in one of her other posts....if you are clear enough about your description of duty the PD's will know what you are talking about. So it is your call, cant see it having a negative impact even if you mentioned it as work experience, though I still believe that it is not workexperience.

Guys do what BBB has suggested put it under whatever you want and be confident about it.My Seniors say is that most important is that we should be able to describe what we did verbally and fluently when asked.
