hey

I just have a simple (may be weird) question..

Can I start my personal statement with a famous inspiring movie background score???
i mean it is a poem of simple short 5 lines..

I mean does it seems offensive/non serious/ whatever bad?

what do you suggest??

Thanks a lot

You didn't ask me, but quotations are used in PS. nod Just use these: " " and write the author's name if you know it.

Agree with Arlete. Make sure that you quote the source, since you wouldnt want people to mistake your good intent as plagiarism.

surprised BBB still here.

hey be honest with your personal statement, as it is personal. try not to include too much of others, and make it yourself.

Unfortunately these: " " have to be replaced once you upload the PS on MyERAS. Somehow the program doesn´t take them. Anybody with same experience?

Read my next post (this one was misleading).

Yes, I saw the red questionmarks and it told me to substitute it with something else.
Weird....

Dear AnneGermany: you are right, they do ask us to review the PS and change the characteres that appear as red question marks. shocked I misunderstood. disapproval Now I wonder how to quote in this case... confused

I have started my PSs with some eye catching case/event description gradually flowing in to a brief personal intro , then why the branch and why me and finally what sort of program i am looking for and my goals. max 700 words. BBB's advise about not sounding too dorky is right on the money. Some of my initial drafts looked like something straight outta a Conrad novel which, after brutal editing of my sis, now look much more readable ! As a resident during my obs put it, PS aren't necessarily gonna get you a residency but it might deprive you of one!wink
