Hello,
Qs: My last 2 LOR were sent this week from US to ECFMG with Fedex overnight. Do you think they'll be scanned in time for me to apply on September 2nd?

I dont think anybody, not even the person scanning the docs can say that.
All you can do is cross your fingers and if you are not an atheist, pray, so that you can meet your 2nd September date.

I don't think you'd be able to apply on sep 2nd. My lor was delivered on 25th aug by fedex and i can't even see the receipt verification yet and their representatives are giving infuriatingly flippant answers on call.

It shouldn;t make much of a difference though. As per some of the more informed people applying on the 1st day and applying in 1st/2nd week is not much different

I hope that ECFMG will scan all the documents that are in their mail so far because 2 of my LORs where lost on their way from Romania to the US. It is not their fault but I fell very frustrated .
I imagine that they receive a lot of documents this week and I will pray that I won't lose September 2nd to apply .

Not having a couple of LOR's by that day shoudl not discourage you from applying on the 2nd. Just my 2 cents

Also, even as of 3:15 pm on the 27th, they are still scanning the dcouments received on the 18th.

I don't understand why the mad rush about applying on the 2nd...doesn't make much of a difference if it anytime in the first ten days....I would wait until the LOR's get scanned and then apply with a complete application...It is a misconception that the 2nd is a deadline in anyway...it is the first day you can apply....

As much as I would love to agree with you wolverine, I dont want to be left out if most of the others are applying on the 2nd.
As to the discussion about the 1st day application, there are other threads in the forum which have discussed this. Dont have much to add to that

foxy, it does not matter if your LOR is scanned or not for application.
You can still mark it and it will be delivered when it is scanned, automatically to the program.
This happened to me last year, I had one LOR lost and it was not updated untill Oct 1st. When I went to the interview, every program had it.
so dont wait for applying until the document is scanned. As long as you have couple already available for program to look into you, go ahead and apply. They set up a filter that allows them to download document automatically when updated.

So many conflicting reports about this...I talked to some PD's/assistant PD's that say having to apply on the first day is an overstated thing....
But some people on here are contradicting this...

Ok, I didnt mean to scare anyone or thrust my opinion on anyone about when you should be applying. I was just saying, that you should apply when you feel most comfortable.
The earlier and the more complete is the application, both relative terms, better the chance (again a relative term)
