Medical school performance is looked at for failures and repeat of courses mostly. At least that's what my PD reviews. US Schools don't do the gold medal thing. While it's good if you do have it, it's not going to hurt you if you don't.

In my transcript I have a repeat of 15 days internship in one of the internship rotations. but that was because I took leave for my personal issues during that term. I can explain it in interview, but how would it be justified before that? Dear BBB, do you think program check transcript for such things before calling for interview? what can I do to prevent the damage from this? Thanks.

No, I don't look at transcripts hardly at all. I know the PD just before the interview.
