Should we (applicants) contact PD (or chairman) and express our interest in
email now? or is that better to wait our application material been
downloaded?
Will this personal contact has any adverse effect?
Please advice, Thanks

Drnaik, so you agree to contact PDs now rather than later.?

  #4

I would not call them.

TO me the question is, if you call then right now, what do you want to speak to them about? If you have something concrete then it makes sense, otherwise I think it wont make any difference.

This is just my 2 cents, BBB maybe able to throw some more light on this, :do the PD's care if an FMG calls them asking the same regular stuff available online?"

I do not meant to ask the the same regular stuff available online. In case, I really want to getting into one program, should I strat contact the PD now and outside ERAS application? although I do not have connection.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! 3200 phone calls or emails????? To me, because you aren't going to get most PDs, you are going to get me.

Patience, let programs and directors do their jobs and contact you.

Hi,
I just came from making about 30 calls to the programs. U speak to the program coordinator, not to the PD or chairman. Usually PC are very busy around that time of the year and they just answer your qs quickly.
Sometimes a prerecorded voice on an answering machine reads you the requirements. If you still can´t find the answer to a specific question, write them an email.
I only called the programs, where I couldn´t find the answers to my qs online. Glad I did that because I took about 4 programs off of my list because I couldn´t meet their specific requirements.
I think emailing and expressing your interest is appropriate when your applications are out and you are desperately waiting to be invited.
Just my 2 cents heresmiling face

If it's not listed with the other requirements, then you should assume that they don't have a graduation year requirement. Just my thoughts.

no bbb, that is not true, some programs have this requiremnt and they dont mention in their website. the only way u know is when they tell u over the phone or by email.

i emailed a program and asked a couple questions that were not specifically addressed on their website, and they sent me back a one line email saying please see: and they had their website address there! if it was there, i wouldn't have asked!!!

Give the PCs a break. Between the 150 emails this morning and the phone calls I receive - we can't possibly answer every question, as much as we try - we can't.....
