hey my uw avrg score is 55, and nbme1 is 190. I already postponed my exam once,and my due date is end of september.but I'm pissed of and dont wanna study anymore.should I pay for a new exam schedule,or just take it and get rid of it? plz help me............

OH gosh im in the same situation as well ...getting 55% on UW but i havnt taken nbme as it will bring me more down .....and my extension ends in sept....

yea, after seeing 190 for nbme1, I'm afraid of taking nbme2! I'm reading uw questions which I did before,and trying to read first aid again. is it gonna be a mistake to take the exam in this situation, I don't know? if anyboby knows,plz help?

well, as someone who already took the exam and failed..... my best advice would be don't take it until that nbme goes above 450.... I assume your 190 is the 3-digit score and not the actual nbme score..... 190 is equivalent to about 390, so really you don't have all that much to go and you do have the whole month of september left so....... review your FA and keep doing your uw questions..... if your 190 is the nmbe score..... don't panic!!!!! either way, keep reviewing and take another nmbe right before your exam date to see where you are...... i'm sorry to say this, but its much better to lose $700 than take the exam and get a low score or worse.... fail and then having to retake... so hang in there and study hard!!!!!

by the way, i know this whole thing can get frustrating (that's where i am right now, just a little bit frustrated) but..... just think it will soon be over and we will all finally be doing what we dream of and that is to be a real doctor....

sept ....u have time...
i took my NBME forum 1 end of july...i got 510....i took NBME forum 2 on 19 aug..score 620....
some one told me getting 510 on NMBE 1 was too less
but....lakshya told me that in 15days i can take my score to another level....i dint believe him then but yes it worked...
so forget about sept work 100% for 15 days or 20 days go for another NBME...
and never give up till the last minute and never give on the exam day till u click the last correct answer...
work hard there is time............good luck..dont worry....just work for today...u'll remember the success for a life time....dont give up now....

hey Tia how did you increase your nbme score like that in such a short time? can you tell me? should I read all the kaplan lecture notes again,or just first aid or questions?

to those who have taken step 1 already: how does a UW score of 55 correlate to the actual score? isn't it enough to get a passing score in the actual exam? thanks!

I didnt take the exam yet, but as know a uw score 55 comes to 85 for the real exam. if I'm wrong plz correct me...

i just read somewhere (arlete's post) that it is equivalent to 85 in the actual exam, but i don't know for sure. any other opinions? thanks very much!

Hi everyone! I did have 55 on USMLE and I failed my exam in Nov. I did not take any NBME forms at that time.
What I think...First, it is plenty of time until September so keep going and try NBME 2 at the end, they say NMBE 2 correlates with real score better. Somebody told me that you need to have at least 430 to be ok on the exam.
There is a formula for calculation you exam score depending on your USMLEworld and Kaplan q-bank... I don't remember it but according it 55% is 80+ on the real exam...
Did not happen to me, but I was very close to the border... You can try to search for the formula on the forum.

The formula is UWx2.33 + 84. I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago, and everyone said that a 55 % is an 85.
U still have a month, study hard, u can get ur score up. I noticed once i did my 2nd read, my score is now 62%.
I just did the USMLE CD in prometric got 42,42,41 i still have exactly 7 days of studying to review.
A guy here wrote something that kindof helps:

i feel really anxious. I just finished and got UW avg score 55% ( just answering 3-5 blocks without reading explanations) i m afraid i might fail. .
to tell u the truth i need to answer at the end of sept . i havent read first aid even once

I'd say anyone who can get a 500 On the NBME and repeat that 500 is way OK, if someone tells you its not then do not listen to them, but you have keep it up till exam time to keep you "HOT" for the USMLE, you want to be focused, play after this is done!
