I got my result today. 164/65. Was aiming for a 250+. Congrats on everyone who has passed and got their results this week. I wish I passed. But failed. I really wanted to do surgery for residency. Do I still have a chance? Does anyone know anyone who has failed Step 1 but still got a really good residency spot?

It would've been nice had I used this site earlier for my preparation for step 1. Only started reading here after writing step 1 on July 31st. Better now then never.

Does anyone have problems listening? During live lectures, I tend to loose concentration and forget what was said 5 minutes ago. Similar to listening to Kaplan DVD's or Goljan (he speaks to fast), I have to pause and then rewind and pause, rewind. Anyone have any tips? It's frustrating. I feel dumb.

Hey listen it's understandable you're upset. Just let it all out. For the lec., I suggest taking notes. It help you retain concepts better, and you can always look back at what you have written. Hope that helps.

hi dupayster... its good that u are strong and have a positive reaction to ur situation... many of us give up even before we properly start! if u really want this u can surely have it... u have to work harder ... pass... and try different strategies later like concentrating on clinical exp that will make u a more attractive candidate... just let go and start again... stuff like this happens to more ppl than u know...its ultimately how u deal with it.. regarding sleepine... im the queen in that subject... taking notes is really helpful...it keeps u awake... yup and i too have to pause and rewing goljan alot... his one hr takes me one and three fourth hr sometimes! but u just gotta do it... gud luck!

try listening to lectures with a fresh cup of coffee...and be comfortable, not too hot or cold...and like someone else said, take notes while you listen, or follow along with your own notes, just to stay focused. also, make sure you're getting enough sleep at night, and eating well. good luck in your studies!
