delta G V-W= -4.0 W - X= .4 X- Y= -3.4 Y- Z = 5.7 FRM THE GIVEN DELTA G VALUE IF THE REACTION PROCEEDS FRM V TO W TO X TO Y TO Z . WHICH SUBSTANCE WILL COLLECT IN MAX AMOUNT IN EQUILIBRIUM ? a. V b.W c.Y d.Z pls answer with explanation pls ?

its Y. Just did it yesterday. coz deltaG is + then the reaction is not favorable so it will no proceed, so Y will collect.

i think it is W coz in second step delta G is positive...n so reaction wont go any further

because in going from V to W there is a spontaneous reaction because it releases energy....seen by negative sign the next step is not spontaneous i.e will require energy(positive sign) so i think reaction wont go further and W wud be accumulated

I am like 100% sure its Y. let me explain more in details. First step is negative, so it will go through and u will acc of W. the second one is 0.4 which close to o that means the reaction is in equalibrium. u will have equal amounts of each W and X. the next reaction is negative and will proceed to Y. But the next step is + and has a high G and is very unfavorable. so acc of Y. The i guess u were stuck that 0.4 is positive, howver it is close to zero making it in equalibrium. and in an equalibrium rxn, is u use the product ie X, this will push the reaction forward to equal. again.

hi karned2, thanks for ur reply sorry for the delay, well i thought no one will answer ....THIS IS MY THINKING frm V to W =-4 then frm W to X is .4 so it is spontaneous and again X to Y is _3.4 so well spontaneous but total energy expended is -4+.4_3.4 = -7 so the nest reaction ie frm Y to z should also occur spontaneously as enough energy is ether ie -7 +5.7= 1.3 can u justify ??
