I got the email from ECFMG, saying that my CS result is available on OASIS. But when I logged in OASIS and click pdf CS Result, it shows 'The application you requested is currently undergoing maintenance. It should be available soon. Please try again later.'.

Does anybody have similar problem as me? Shall I still receive a hard copy of CS result soon?

no u dont get a hard copy of the CS result. what u will get is an ECFMG certificate if u have passed and ur medicall education credentials are verified (and ur an IMG!)

if u r still waiting u can try applying for the CS exam through IWA and if it doesnt let you apply...you have probably passed! and if it lets u apply you have failed sad

good luck.

I found my CS result today. Disappointingly, I didn't pass because my patient note is in low score range. I didn't know anybody else who failed for this section. Most failed from CIS, but not me. First Aids is the only resource for me to learn how to write patient notes and I am sure most people use First Aids format of patient note. So, now I really don't know how to improve this part?

Hi snowdrops,

Sorry to hear the news. I have a few suggestions and hope they can of some help to you.

- I think first of all, make sure your handwriting is neat. If not, it might be better to type next time.

- I used the bullet + narrative mixed style instead of the pure narrative in FA. The bullet style requires less thinking but it needs more space.

- The order I wrote my note was D/D -> positive history -> PE -> negative Hx. So even if the time had run short, I still would've had a fairly complete note.

- If you forget to ask some history or do an important exam , you can still take a risk to document them on your note. Just write "none" for all.

- Negative history: A trick to be efficient about this part is to organize them. For example, if a patient has no psyciatric symptoms, just write "no depression/anxiety" symptoms. Same way, no urinary symptoms, no symptoms of hyperthyroidism. This way you can save quite a bit of time and space yet still be thorough about the differentials.

Wish you the best of luck for the next exam.

Hi, Cherryho:
Thank you for your advice.
Your suggestion is very useful. I take it. Next time, I will try to use computer for the patient note and use bullet format as well.
Good luck with your residency match!
See you around!
