I am reading the posts here and mostly people focus on the clinical interpersonal skills that are important for the exam.

I wanted to know how important it is in writting down the differential diagnosis and Work-up. Can doing poorly on this section alone lead to a fail. I mean getting only few correct dd and labs but not getting everything exactly.

Secondly, in First AID, there are check boxex next to the questions. I wanted to know how critical it is to miss a few of those checkboxes, not the PAMHUGFOSS checkboxex but lets say asking about polyuria, dysuria and hematuria for a patient that came in with diabetes follow-up. I know this is important but lets say I asked the patient have you noticed any problems urinating? But did not specify... These little things, such as foot infections?.... I mean if I get nervous and the only thing I remember is Pam Hugs Foss but forget that Pam may have a foot infection. Is this going to be a big prob.

i have an idea, for asking questions from SP, if in case you blackout start from his head and go upto the toe, in this way you can take control of a situation little easily,
lets fit this trick with your case of diabetes follow up-start asking of diminished vision for ruling out retinopathy, then polydysia polyphagia as you look at the mouth,as you look at torso can ask of weight loss or gain, then abdo, bowel movements,genito-urinary infections, feet for infection and neuropathy, so according to me it works and still if few items are left, it is suppose to be this way, you cant be exhaustive with kind of contraints exam imposes time wise.

PAMHUGS FOSSODA DOESNT HELP YOU TO PASS THIS EXAM>
you got to ask detail HPI and rule out atleast 3 DD and do focus physical
if you fail in patient note and pass data gathering you are likely pass ICE overall
but if you fail in DG you are likely fail inspite of passing PN
So focus alot on Data gathering
