Hi,
can anybody tell me- why ofloxacin fo OE when pseudomonas in MCC and oflox does not act against it?

I think it is acute diffuse otitis Externa in immunocompromized patient like diabetics is because of Pseudomonas.Otherwise Localized form are due to Staph or strep

MCC are Pseudomonnas aeruginosa (especially post swimming) and S. aureus, and fluoroquinolones (including ofloxacin) cover both. nod

Only cipro has a good coverage of pseudomona , I agree with u , however it covers other germs of OE very good and also in an immunocompetent patient it is not a life-threatening infection so there is no need to go for cefepime or ceftazidime ,...

Thanks nightflight. Arlete(oh how I hate to disagree with you)- the reason why I asked the qs is because cipro is the only quinolone supposed to be active against pseudomonas.Thanks anyways.
