Hi, ecfmg takes 6-8weeks to verify the credentials after ur med school has verified and they have recieved it.

It took 3 and half weeks after they received the documents from my med sch.

hi ..thanks for ur reply..my med/school says they sent it on july15th,but ecfmg says didnt recive it yet..w to do?iam afraid that i may not participate in this match

It takes 6-8 weeks indeed, but I believe it is possible to apply even if you are not ECFMG certified. Just notify the programs once your credentials will be verified and you will get certified.

Mine took more three months to verify. But yes, you can surely apply without being ECFMG verified.

In my case, the first request ECFMG sent to my med sch was lost. They sent me a notice and resent another request to my school. I contacted the secretary in my medical school and learned that they never got the first request. My school got the second request and sent the verification to ECFMG in mid June through regular international mail. ECFMG received the documents on July 10 and verified them on Aug 4. My personal experience is that international mails can be lost pretty easily. If you can't track the mail, I guess the best way to do is to ask your med sch to send another verification through registered mail or couriers this time. You can actually set up an account in FedEx or UPS so your school can use your account number for the shipping.

my documents were recieved by ecfmg on july15th and they haven't verified it yet. Its been 4 weeks since then.

Well, mine were sent (first request was lost) in November last year. ECFMG acknowledges their receipt (letter sent in March 2008) but they still are in the middle of the credential verification process for some reason. I am done with all exams and can't get my certificate because of this.
