Weston is a very expensive city, I think it will be easier to find accomodation in Fort Lauderdale and drive. You are going to need a car there anyway, even if you stay in Weston (awful, almost inexistent public transportation).

I hope you'll like it. I love that place. Send my regards to Dr. Muniz. wink

Now you got me! No idea... But hopefully you won't spend a lot of time there, so it really doesn't matter, does it? wink

Sorry for not helping more...

i hope that photograph shows the lower part of your face smiling face so i can tell him that the most helpful and generous person he had ever seen had send her regards. probably that partial photograph might help too.

Wow! He's gonna say "have you talked to my wife?" grin

Tell him there was a cardiologist that worked there for 2 years as an EKG tech and afterwards did an observership, in 2006. But I bet he won't remember me, because a lot of people pass by there. The man is a walking book. A lot of things I learned from him were in the USMLE steps, I hope it will be a positive experience for you, as well.

And yes, that's my smile. nod

thanks arlete, infact i have got the observership in cardiology so i might meet people who probably are old friends of yours. i will surely talk to them about you smiling face

one more thing arlete i looked up the broward county system transit and they seem to have a decent bus transit system at least on paper. do you think that the bus service can be relied upon (bus pass is 46$ for the entire month and 23$ if you get college student concession) or is it absolutely essential to rent a car (the cheapest one is like 760$)?

I remember seeing people go to work in the morning by bus. If there's a schedule and you know the streets covered by the buses, I think you'll be OK. My sister went everywhere by bus, even carrying a bike when she was there. But she was on vacation.

I think you should arrive a few days before, and, during a weekday, ride the buses at the times you want, to see how long it takes, even how long it takes for you to walk from the bus stop to the clinic (it's going to be around 10-15 minutes). You know, it's very important not to be late or appear all flushed and sweaty when you start the day. Maybe you'll eventually find a ride, who knows?

I think there's only one cardiologist there that doesn't know me, the others will smile when hearing my name, I bet! grin The nurses and the techs, too. Good times, those... I miss it a lot!

Now I'm happy for you, I wish it were me... rolling eyes

yep looked at their bus service, seems ok. cant reach there early though got another observership in september. infact i will have to take the flight on the last day of the month in the evening of september and will reach fort lauderdale in night. booked a hostel in fort lauderdale and will reach ccf by bus 4 minutes before the start of the day, talk about crazy schedules sticking out tongue (probably might try the taxi on the first day).

looks like u really liked the place, dont worry u might be doing ur residency there and probably fellowship too (hope i may get a chance as well!)

You know, many did it before we even thought about it, so I see no good reason we can not succed as well... For example, you, my friend, will have two (not ONE but TWO) observerships to talk about, that's impressive when compared to others who couldn't do them. I mean, how many doors did you have to knock on so two would open?

wink

arlete i started the applications for the observerships early is this year so i guess that made things a littlebit in my favour. to tell u the truth i have three observerships in sep, oct and nov. the sep and nov ones are in internal medicine and the october one is in cardiology. all 3 are in good institutes. i had to grovel around for the sep one, the rest of them were pretty straight forward (had to pay the application fee though). i wonder how much the tag of 'observerships' really helps the application but i had no other option. i thought that observerships from good places would be better than the uncertainties of working with people in private practice.

I don't know the value of them, either, but it is certainly better than nothing, and you get a little taste of how things work around here... Nice...

Keep in touch!
