dear friendS thank god i passed csa with just 3 days of studying+1 day practising myself day before exam this is for guys/gals who have got less time to prepare i have got UK experience which did helped me BUT____________________________ BE YOURSELF make sure do review of systems and cover every aspect of history including travel and psychiatry h/o.so that u wont miss anything i didnt followed pamhugfoss practice with common people i mean non medicos which will really help u. i even practised with a nice afro american guy which i met in amtrack. dont get embrassed with the constipated serious looks of simulators .(they r suppossed 2 be like that) believe me this shit test doesnt test u r knowledge make sure to make patient comfortable. draw foot rest and rise the head rest of the bed greet ,shake the hands, maintain good eyecontact ALWAYS ,smile always. i summarised the presenting complaint while washing hands so that i can save time drape, do only relevant examination.while palpating abdomen maintain eye contact.help to hook and unhook the gown.DONT STOP TALKING WITH A PLEASANT FACE before u examine the patient touch his fingers and ask whether u r hands are cold or not. always seek permission before any exam, before putting stethoscope make sure u rub it and again make sure u ask the patient whether its cold or not. relevant counselling make sure u r here to help him/her. challenging Qs-dont say straight cut yes/no.instead yeah may be may not be .i am not sure need to run blah blah but i will definetely clarify u r concerns. u can address pts as mr miss sir dear etc etc. last not the least DONT FORGET 2 include negative finding also in the paper.eg no h/o headache.no h/o dyspnoea. i finished DD AND INVESTIGATION stuff in the first instance so that i can manage time and can play on the paper with the h/o and PE part best of luck friends.i hope this will help u guys as i said BE YOURSELF.
