You basically give a title to your LORs, then you finalize them, meaning you won't change this title, and ERAS scan them with that title, for example "Dr. X, Medicine Chief, Hospital Y". Then you are going to choose the programs and choose which letter goes with which program, by checking a square only.

Designation is the first step and when I am sure that data will not be changed then i Finalize and that's it ?

So how do I connect DR.XYZ with the LOR written by DR.XYZ form amongst my 6 LORS? Does ERAS do it or I do It. If i do when do i do it?

I mean, when the letter gets there, with the DSF and cover letter, they are able to upload under the right number letter. I don't know if that's what you are talking about.

Dr.ABCs letter gets connected with his name as Dr.ABC when they scan. I see that in oasis. Agreed.
But again when I designate - i will be typing the same name Dr.ABC at aamc.org - but how will it get connected to the above scanned letter? if it was manually done by ERAS it would take a lot of time.

When I go to "Designate" - it gives me the same options as i had during filling in DSF.
Then its giving me a check box for finialising

What I mean is: when you choose a program, you'll have all the letters listed there in the program, and you check a box, to choose the 4 ones you are sending to that program.
I think "designate" means giving the title to the LOR, sorry for the confusion I made. Once you designate, check and finalize, so it will be uploaded.
I don't quite get your question, though... You have letters already uploaded that weren't designated/finalized?

So they are physically there, but you hadn't designated them yet? Well, then you are pretty safe, I think. Just designate, finalize and you'll be done, they'll eventually upload them.

Hi arlete, underscore and others.
I am relatively new in this forum
Thanks for the info shared , especially this thread which made me realise my mistake of not finalising the LORs.
I just finalised my LORs but my other documents like MSPE, transcript are already in post office. Does this mean i missed my turn in the uploading of my documents? Will my LORs be uploaded in time for the application day?

Do we usually put Dr. before a persons name or is there no need to do it while designating the LOR.
And they just ask Title and Dept. - So I will be writing professor / head / etc - dept. of Medicine ./etc - am i right?
There seems to be no colum for institution name / med school etc.??

Hey, heres another LoR question....
I had everything ready to apply on sept 2, but all of a sudden i got a new LoR that will boost me.
Can I finalize it and apply right now? or should i wait for it to be received and scanned to apply? i wouldnt want to apply late, but wouldnt want to mess up by sending an unscanned LoR!!!!!
