Is the class ranking in med school very important for IMG in Match? I just got my MSPE listing my class ranking which is not very impressive (above average but not the top).

Don't worry about it - it's going to be fine.......For the most part, my PD uses the transcripts to ensure that a student didn't have to take a class multiple times to pass. And even that isn't tragic....

Thanks everybody for the answer. My school actually has a MSPE template. I didn't know my ranking beforehand and thought it might look okay. felt kind of bad coz I could've told the dean's secretary to take the ranking off.

Second???

Send another document, that is a nice asset. Why it wasn't on your docs?

Maybe bbb will say it would not be important, but I will send another documents, just in case, it might be considered tiny little plus...and we need them desperately...

By the way, thanks a lot bbb for your posts, I am silent reader of your posts and you help a lot!

Ask your Dean's office to put kind of "addition to diploma" official paper, with official seal and signature etc.

give the guy a break pipi99.
you could at most mention it in interviews, but dont go overboard abt it.
who the hell cares at all what u did in medschool overseas in a school no one has ever heard of before?
your usmle scores are the only objective criteria they have and the one most probably to use to screen

give the guy a break pipi99

O yeah, I was bothering the guy so much so I should hive him a break!
Hope you are ok....mentally I mean...

Anyone can say on IV that they ranked second, first or whatever they like...Guy was asking is there a way he can did it, I said maybe kind of official paper from school.
My school gave me diploma, "addition to diploma" on 4 pages where all my presentations, congresses, exchange programs are listed, my class ranking also...So, that was just advice for a guy how he can do it.

I hope you had other more important things to do

If they have residents from that school they most probably heard of that school before...and some Americans have never heard of Maine ...If you want to look that way...

Why the hell you are so bothered if guy was second on school ranking and I told him to aks for official paper because that can be a tiny little plus for him?!?!?!....CCCCCC...jealosy..I gues if you were second you would like to have that documented on your Dean's Letter? Or myabe not? Just hide it, keep the secret safe...

I used to have the same question.. I did pretty basic and average in school, but I am hoping that won't matter as much as usmle scores. I did good otherwise in usmle, finished with step3 as well and I am hoping that will matter the most.

Cherryho,
Ask them deffinitely for some kind of official "addition to MSPE", second ranking is really good and you should be proud of yourself. If you have good scores, good other stuff in your CV, perform well on IV, second ranking in your own school will be a plus also...Have everything you can, we need everything, we are IMG's. Don't listen if average guy tells you that second ranking is not important. Some advices are not so honest obviously!
Good luck Cherryho!
