guys , i didnt match for the last 2 times . and i have got an offer in mayo clinic for J1 clinical research through contacts . he said i can be of help in producing papers as second author and 1 or 2 as first author . I am just exhausted mentally and financially for the match . I welcome suggestions on whether this is of help for a family practise residency ( but the research isnt in family practise ) as my score profile isnt good , and i couldnt clear my step 3 . I need ur suggestion on how to go about with this .

i will take the job. it will boost your cv. you may be lucky to get a residency spot at mayo if you impress somebody. the scores are only a part of the evaluation. there are lots of people who have had multiple attempts at teh steps who matched. some even had pre-matches. so give it a shot. work your fingers to the bone and be resourceful. if you can afford it, try again this year but if not, take a break from this year's match and plan for next year. Take it.A LOR from Mayo would be definitely a plus. Also if you have publications, I think you would have good chance to match.I know a girl who had scores in late 70's early 80's no USCE and worked as post doc in Mayo for an year got matched in a good pediatrics programme in 2008 match. She had only 2 interviews and she MATCHED.So I wish you good luck.

Yes, take it. In addition to the above-discussed benefits, you will have some money to put aside for match 2010 season...

I would agree the above suggestions for you to take the job. I am sorry that I don't like what you said of this being the worst case scenario to stay in research. I understand that you love being a clinician. I just want to say that doing research work is much more difficult and intelligently demanding if you want to step up to higher levels. All the best!
