Since I am totally ignorant of the complexed visa issues, can someone answer these queiries for me:
- How is the situation for J1 waiver for IMGs in Psych/IM/FM/Peds after residency?
- If one does get it, he can continue living in US or still has to go out and come back in?
- If he does get a J1 waiver what are the chances of obtaining fellowships in above subspecialties?
- If he is on H1 what are the chances for fellowships after residency in them?
- If he finishes his residency on H1 and doesn't find a fellowship, what is he supposed to do?
- Practically overall what is the advantage of H1 over J1 or vice versa?
I am sorry if it sounds stupid but I needed to know in order to make an informed decision and anticipate what lies ahead. Only thing I know is that residencies are abundant on J1 and H1 doc doesn't need to return after residency.
