Hi, Overall step2 ck and MCCQE1 are the same but there are some differences. For Canadian exams there are some specific topics (Canadian law) that you need to know. In addition, the types of questions on the QEI, second aprt of the exam are really similar to Step 3 (clinical scenarios with possible diagnosis, medications, what to do, etc) so you need to prepare for each exam separately. After passing the MCCEE, MCCQEI and MCCQEII you will become LMCEE certified but careful, this is no FRCSC or FCCP, and therefore you cannot practice medicine in Canada. You want to apply for residency training you go through either Carms (similar than USA match) or one of the particular provincial programs which add their specific exams. If you are already an specialist who want to practice again need to go through a provincial medical college and be assess by them which usually include another exams or internships and after that tehy will let you know if you are allow to practice. I hope this clarifies a little bit you question but send me a PM if you need more info.

Canada now accepts USMLE's as equivalents to their exams (you must have Step 3 though). The only thing I don't know, and haven't really researched is if that's a valid statement for anyone holding a passing score for the 3 Steps or just for US grads...?!!? :S I guess you can find out with the Royal Canadian College of Physicians... or something like that and please if you find any info, please post back!! Thank you!

@hcm11: Are you sure? Where did you find this information? I looked at this old post on prep4usmle: http://www.prep4usmle.com/forum/thread/37193/, and it says something different.
