50 yo man presents with severe pain in the R hypochondrium, N/V, 102F. Signs started shortly after eating his faorite pizza w/ extra cheese, pepperoni, and sausage. White count =13000 and bilirubin =2.8. If there is obstructed cystic duct, which would be DOC to alleviate pt.s pain? a) naproxen b) oxycodone c) propoxyphene d) morphene e) meperidine

I'm not exactly sure what u mean by increasing P of sphincter of oddi as english is not my first language but in the explanation they were saying that the anelgesics are used for moderate type of pain and wouldn't help the pt. much in this case. As for the other narcotics, even though they could be used, Meperidine is chosen b/c it has antimuscarinic effects  doesn't cause vasospasms.
