Kaplan Qbank USMLE

hey guys....

Im planning to take the exam on November . i've stopped working as a resident in Medical oncology in my country for that purpose cz it's very hard to work everyday plus nightshifts and also to study however.

I studied I.M plus half of the psychiatry the past year as i was planning to take the exam so im done with it kaplan notes plus videos . only q book at that time though (i know it's not good as far as Q's go )

I'm done with both Surgery and Ob/Gyn now with also answering questions from Q book only .

Im back now to I.M kaplan notes reading it all over again each chapter to take like 2-3 days max when im studying 8 hrs a day ( god willing) .

My plan is to be done with I.M plus Pediatrics by the end of August . then 2 months answering q's @ UW plus Q bank yet putting the important notes in Crush ( the review book) , Nbme then Exam on November !

What do you guys think ?

Do you agree with my plan ? or is it better when im done with either I.M or Ped. to be answering questions on Qbank after each subject i mean seperately in other words which isn't what im not going to do as im afraid it may take too much time when my exam is on November not to mention that im doing UW for 2 months Mixed ofcourse .

Any other comments ,advice will be appreciated !

Hi mido,

I think you are doing great and beside, you were already a resident in Oncology, oh my gosh, that is my biggest dream to accomplish in life, to be able to do that in US, but you know, here we have to do Internal Medicine first.
With the fact that you already did your first review of Kaplan Notes and this is your second review, try to do QBank first, if you are studying 8h/d you can finish the whole qbank in a month probably, my friend Ivonne's advice (99's) she said that Kaplan is much easier than UW so you go from low to high, UW as said by many is very close to the real exam, so do QBank first and then UW.
Best of luck for you Doc

thx graziee for your reply ....

Well i have some concerns though ....im right now finishing I.m yet again from kaplan notes as i've done it the past year and i tend to forget so im thinking finshing it up , do the Qbank still though i haven't done pediatrics and im done with both Surgery and Obi/gyn plus half of the psychiatry and i want to take the exam on November/December so im kinda in a hurry and my frd who got the 95 adviced me to finish all first then do the USMLE WORLD for 2 month mixed so as not to waste time answering questions of I.M or any other subject first .

so which is better ? be done with ped + I.M by the end of this month ( don't think is possible as i have still neuro, pulm and Emergency medicine + rheuma still left in I.M ) . this does mean that i won't answer q right after i finish I.M as there won't be any time Or

Be done with I.M and Q bank by the end of this month then having only a month and a half answering USMLE WORLD mixed question ( is it enough ) as i will take 2 weeks to be done with Ped.

Plus ummm is it important to read kaplan notes of ped. or Only Crush will do ? as this will save me time ...?

Hi Doc,

A very good friend of mine Ivonne who got 99 in CK, her advice to me was to be done with QBank first since the questions are easier and more related to the K-Notes if that is your material of study, just after being done with QBank, start with Usmleworld, I am planning to do it like that.

Either case you choose Doc, I wish you the best of luck!
