Hi Everyone, Decided to write this Prep, to keep my self motivated for last month. I think I can improve my score about 3% per month. So this last month is insurance. As I am in passing range already. My quote is Luck is truly where preparation meets opportunity. It is from Randy Pausch, a Prof at Carnegie Mellon Uni. who just died of Ca Pancreas aged 47yrs. He wrote a book called "the Last Lecture" after he give a motivational talk called the last lecture which is a lecture series at the University. It is a lecture talking about what you would say if you give your last lecture in life. (his book is now on the NY best sellers list, and he was paid 6million for it, makes you wonder why you studied med) Its about following your childhood dreams. These posts are only about motivation so dont spend too much time here. They will be a little bit quirky and I apologize if I transfer some other motivational quotes here from other posts. Its easier for me to find them. My prep. last read notes 15 days. FA and mcq last 2 weeks. Goljan audio during my breaks. KISS- Keep it simple, stupid. Common things occur commonly. Take care everyone. Yes Mid Aug Nite means I study late.

There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure. Colin Powell. Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. Calvin Coolidge 30th president of US (1872 - 1933)

Thanks p4a99 and acintya Trust your right brain. Highly recommend this! Thanks p4a99 for bumping it up again! Some pearls from Dr. Daugherty: For those who don't have time to listen to it all. * You are preparing for a test: not for the practice of medicine. * You CAN’T LEARN EVERYTHING! Decide where the gap in your knowledge is and learn it. * Repetition: is the KEY. * Sleep is important. * Take short breaks. About every 50 minutes. Walk around. Stretch a bit. Go to the bath room. If the study breaks are getting longer, and you cannot control yourself, BUY A TIMER to control your breaks. When it goes BING after 10 minutes, time to study again! Don’t sit for 4 hrs at a stretch-you basically wasted the last 2.5 hrs! * PRACTICE RECALL # Summary: THE USMLE IS MORE THAN AN EXAM, IT IS A QUESTION: DO YOU WANT TO DO THIS? DO YOU REALLY, REALLY WANT TO DO THIS? ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO DO THIS? Every day, ask this question, and need to have a YES as an answer. The minute/day you have NO for an answer you are out!The exam is one BIG MOMENT WHERE YOU GET THIS QUESTION again and again. Do you want to do this? Do you really want to do this? The exam makes you answer this 350 times. It is not about how smart you are! The simple thing the medical education system is set up is for: PERSISTENCE, PATIENCE, AND PERSEVERENCE.
