Hello suggestion needed again. I did an NBME exam today, scored low , 270. Has anyone ever scheduled the usmle 1 exam and not showed up for it? what happend? I dont want to pay the cancellation or reschedulling fees. And how late can I be to send my documents with the results to apply for the Match this year? Please give your suggestions. Thanks. PS exam on 31st of July,2008

If you don't show you lose $700+, whereas if you pay the rescuduling fee you lose $50.

I think it is $50 to extend your 3/12 exam period, and $50 if you miss exam. if you reschedule before 5 business days of actual exam, its free. no way is it $700. I arrived without my exam permit so they would not let me sit. if you miss exam, which I did, the system locks you out for 2 days before you can reschedule a new exam date.( you have to call prometric and pay your $50 so they can reset their computer to take a new date). with a low score you are going to need another full learning cycle. askdoc has good advice on how to improve your score. so if i was delaying exam at least give yourself enough time to reread all notes and then take another nbme. i did not believe my initial nbme score, so studied weak area, and told another one in 3 days and got my score up another 100.
