Hi everyone,
Like many I was also a silent reader of the forum. Thought of coming forward after my result., I want to thank each and every one in the forum for helping me achieve this score, whenever I got tensed I would read the supportive words and gain back the CONFIDENCE...great going guys..keep it up. thought I must also give back so here I am.
I took my exam on 3rd July.. I reached the centre early and they also allowed me to start the exm early. I started at 8:15am. I took the tutorial in 6mins. and started the exam.
I was very tensed as Step 2 ck score was very imp for me, because i scored less on step 1.
The exam is DOABLE...! Like most say, all the basic and simple but important aspects were tested. NO RARE SYNDROMES...and RARE DISORDERS. Almost in every block I faced only 2-3 questions where I was completely unaware of the vignette.
I felt the exam was very very close to UWORLD...Guys be perfect with UWORLD...believe me it will help you immensely.
Every block I was left with a minmum of 8-10 mins, so got chance to review the marked questions.
After 4 blocks, fatigue was setting in, So you need to even pay attention to your health before the exam.
I would say SLEEP a minimum of 7 hrs per day atleast from 1 week before the exam..it will help you!!
Please do not forget to take a TYLENOL with you.( I forgot and had a severe headache so had to ask the centre personnel..they did help me)
Please practice UWORLD as much as possibel.!!!! Internal Medicine is the most important, next comes Psychiatry...then follows others.
Please concentrate on the diagnostic duration of the psychiatric disorders.
Got only two media clips...both were murmurs easily identified.
Got 2 ECG's both AF..! very hallmark ECG!!!. So dont get very tensed about media clips.
On the whole, EXAM is doable..all you need is LOTS OF PATIENCE AND STAMINA!!

Great score, congratulations..Can you give us some tips on your preparation, how long? materials used, NBME scores, UW score,.....etc?

Your appreciative words make me feel that my score indeed is not so bad!!
I was trying to post a reply, but the site had some probs..sorry for the delay.
Coming to my details:
Study Resources: Kaplan Material
Kaplan DVD's heard only IM & gyn-obg.
UWORLD: Most helped!!!!
TIme of Prep : Started in DEC..on and off
Serious PREP from APRIL - JULY.
UWORLD : 72% Did only once no time to REDO.
NBME: Took 3 weeks before the exam scored 490
Took 1 week before the exam scored 520
USMLE score : 226/93
These are my details.
I totally depended on UWORLD.
Would do the first few questions in TUTOR mode. Become thorough with subject and then do in TIMED mode.
MAde a note of all points in UWORLD which I did not come across in KAPLAN.
Revised that before the EXAM!!
Psychiatry diagnostic criteria is each disorder has certain minimum time and certain minimum number of symptoms to daignose. Those criteria are important.
This information I learnt best from UWORLD.
Hope I was clear.

hey Tuscani.... yes i got a lot of psychiatry questions...!! I was least testes on surgery and the few questions i got were from TRAUMA only..!!!

hhi guys. just git my result of step 2 ck.i was a reader in this forum for long. thank you all for ur wishes and help. i did kaplan books and uw. helped me a looooot. guys do ur uw atleast twice. i used to stress a lot but practice questions in uw and u will be fine. and do take some pain killer in exam, i had headache. well4 all of u who are still preparing. BEST OF LUCK.
