Does citizenship make a difference? I want to know too.

it think it makes a difference if you are applying to a government/ military facility.. gc holders cannot apply on them...

Seriously speaking being an IMG , our chances are very slim...but still what the heck....go take your chances and try your luck...

One way you can do is to check every program's Website and see if any resident is an IMG. Then you can email him/her to ask how they got in.

you need money. apply to every program you can afford. Every img friendly place will have img friendly people applying, so while you might get in if you have stellar credientials, they are actually harder than some other places. Concentrate on low-tier probation level programs. Read Isersons, be persistant. Being a citizen makes a difference. It shows that you are American, as opposed to an outsider coming in. It is not about racism, it is about nationalism. All things being equal, an american ciizen would be preferred over a GC holder simply because of it. That said, no two candidates are ever equal. However, an AMG with a visa would be considered better than you. Your scores are not stellar, and competition is bad. I would have a back up plan..... but you have to push yourself really really hard...
