I would like to know whether it is necessary to apply for a california letter (sorry that I forgot the new name for that), and whether it is too late to apply for one?

Thanks for your input.

i think its called ptal i think and it takes three to four months so u r kind of late

You can apply now and use your receipt for your application,until you get the letter.

I guess I may end up not applying for it since it is time-consuming, complicated and expensive. Anyway, thanks for your time and answers.

california letter is waste..
dont apply for it if you are img

there are (or there were) ppl on this forum who appled and who got residency in ca in 2008

to njcjzy: you probably can get it even faster than in 3 mo if somebody will personally go to your med school and ask to fill all those forms and really fast send it to you so than you can proceed.

To caduceus:its not a waste.one of my firnds got residency there.
I got mine in 3 months,i sent my documents all at the same time.

i got ptal in 4 months..
mostly the residency which are imgfriendly are community hospitals...

therefore better to take residency into good univ/affiliated hospital elsewhere..
therefore ptal is waste
