I have listened that if we write step 2CK after August 2nd we will get our score by mid October. My friend gave his Step 2CK on August 13th last year and he got his score on October 17th.He said that it is happening same from last 2 years and we need to write Step 2CK before August 2nd to get score by September 1st.Does that apply for this year also??? Is it not the usual 3 weeks rule apply for score reporting if we take Step 2CK after August 2nd?? I am planning to take my Step 2CK exam on Aug 11th.Someone please clarify my doubt because if this information is true for this year...then I need to take my exam by August 1st. Thank You.

Unfortunately, this year should be worse according to the NBME announcement New Software for Computer-based USMLE (posted July 15, 2008) A new version of the software used to deliver the computer-based USMLE™ Step examinations is scheduled to be introduced in mid-August 2008. Migration to the new version will occur first in the Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) examination, and will be phased in over several weeks. If you plan to take the Step 2 CK examination in August 2008 or later, you should familiarize yourself with both the current test delivery software and the new version. Orientation and practice materials using both the current and new versions of the software are available for downloading: www.usmle.org/Orientation/2008/menu.html If you obtained the 2008 orientation and practice materials in CD format from your registration entity, please note that the CD includes Step 2 CK practice materials using only the current software. To obtain Step 2 CK practice materials using the new software, use the link above. The change to the test delivery software will be accounted for in scoring the examination results, so that scores will be comparable to those of exams using the older software. Because of this change, it will be necessary to delay the reporting of scores for some examinees. The normal turnaround time for reporting scores to Step 2 CK examinees is three to four weeks. However, during this transition, turnaround time may be as long as six to eight wee

The earlier you are ECFMG certified or at least have Step1 & Step 2CK scores in hand, the more interviews you will get..Some programs have a requirment that applicants must be ECFMG certified at the time of the application, so if you are not, u r losing chances, for people who have 99 in one step and waiting for their scores on the second, this should not be a problem, cuz they will get plenty of interviews any way..However, if u r a struggling IMG with an 8?, then every chance counts!!

The new software for computer based Step 2CK will start from August 14th.See the link below http://usmle.org/general_information/announcements.html So if we write Step 2 CK before August 14th can we get our score on September 3rd(after 3 wednesdays)???
