hi !
started studying for step 3 a few weeks ago. but with work at hospital, it was very slow. only last week i took permission to work 2-3 days a week.
studying alone is tough. and i am not able to get a suitable partner. people far off wanna discuss over the phone and that somehow doesn't workout. i am getting distracted...need to do something. i'll have to guard myself from sitting at home and surfing the web like a 15 year old. i study well the days i go to the lib but its far and gets tough in the heat.
need support and courage, and i need to rebuild character as i did for step 1 and 2. the scores were okay man...not like 99ers, but 94 ans 92 felt good for a fresh grad taking exams during atnd soon after internship.
good luck with this final step.

not much to write about studies today as i went to the hosp so no studying done, but i have 3 days to myself now and i want to make the most of them. lost time is lost chance! grab it.
i have always been nocturnal, but i plan to get up early tomorrow. lets hope i do.

Thanks a lot Ivonne!
I finally got my documents to reach ECFMG. The DHL tracking tells me it reached ECFMG on Thurs but the site isnt updated yet. If its doesn't show by tomorrow, i'll call 'em.
Well, I started doing USMLE World yesterday. I think thats what is going to help more than reading the text. These days I am much less concentrated so reading books is tougher.
Well, my UW scores so far 56, 56, 64, 58%
I don't know how good that is...is it like step 1 and 2? Lets see, I need to keep it going persistently and wait for ECFMG certification.

HI again!
it has been 7 working days that documents reached them from the med school and ECFMG has yet not updated anything on the site!!
I called them today and they said it may take upto 10 working days and then 6-8 weeks for certification!
I was taken aback. I hope that doesnt take that long or i'll be in bad shape.
the work has kept me really busy and unable to work. In addition, certification related stuff hasn't helpedsad

Good luck!

Thanks Arlete.
I want to know if i can apply for step 3 now!
I have fulfilled all requirements for the certification including steps and sending the documents to ECFMG, but they havent updated it on OASIS or sent any mail.
Hope to hear from you soon.

  #10

If you can see in OASIS the date the ECFMG certification was issued, that's all you need to apply. You don't need to have the paper with you, only this information.

Okay so i guess ECFMG will have this its own way.
I was told they take upto 6-8 weeks but going by other experience i believed it would take about 2 weeks.
its been 12 days and nothing! i called up ECFMG and they sang the same song - upto 6-8 weeks.
Actually it took 6 weeks for a friend of mine and she just got her Certification! Guess the other 2- weekers would have sent their documents earlier than this busy match season. good for 'em.
Guess i can try hard and study and just wait as my studies slow down. I am doing UW though - 56-58%. i dont know how that is.
I'll be glad if someone can tell me what 56% in UW corresponds to, on Step 3?
Thanks

  #12

I started with 57% in uw, studied a lot, and ended up with 99, so i think you are in good shape! At least in the pass range. nod Remember not to neglect the ccs.

Thanks a lot arlete

I am greedy for the score. I think i have time until ECFMG certification comes. I want atleast 90 in step 3. The more the merrier!

Can you please tell me what was your avg cumulative score in UW to get 99 in step 3? also, what else did you study while doing UW....step 2 text or FA? i am just doing 2 UW tests a day and noting down explanations for further review.

  #14

After I finished the whole uw in tutorial mode and had 57%, I started repeating the wrong questions and started getting 86-92% so I quit using uw. I used FA and Crush and usmle123 for ccs. Notes are very good for the last read.

There are some notes of mine in this forum, check them out! wink

HI everyone!

Its been a long absence from the favourite forum for me.

I have been waiting for ECFMG certification, which is very marginal now! If i dont get it in the stipulated time (by sept 4th) i don't know what i'll do.

I have been trying to study in these confusing times. not going too well. doing 1-2 CCS cases and some UW blocks. But not have been as regular as I would have like to. Now I am also doing the PS and CAF so thats also taking time.

I am back now and lets see...

I did 2 block of UW today - 52% and 39%. sad....lets hope for better, with certification and UW performance.

hey Rudolph, this is kind a good start...........dont hope for better, always hope for the best n then atleast u ll get bettersticking out tongue

right now everyone is going thro' a hard patch,,,,,,,doing so many things together as 1st sep is very closeshocked............but u ll do it.............so keep going

Thanks a lot hir!

I am finding it tough to study...and the absence of company is not helping the cause.

However, i am determined to keep working...stow or fast. Good if its fast, steady is it is slow.

What I need to change is that I need to study. Doing questions is good, but text is important too.

Lets stay focussed and hope for the best.

Hi again!

I have been inrregular in writing my journal here. I almost finished my UW with 55%. Now repeating wrong ones and scoring over 80. Shall stop once i reach >90.

I am also doing FA for step 3.

I have scheduled to take the exam on oct 3rd.

The wait for the interviews also plays on the mind but I know I have to be strong and pull it thru.

Seek support from you. Any suggestion on what else to do is welcome.

The forum and the guys here are amazing!

Hey, RUDOLPH... Don't neglect your ccs, OK? wink

Thanks a lot Arlete!

I am actually having a trouble with CCS.

I mean I guess I am treating the patients well but I dont really know if I am doing okay. I don't know how to assess. Is there any way (site / software) from which you can know what else you could do on any case.

I have done UW CCS cases but doing on USMLE software is a different game! Are there any more cases in that software elsewhere?

Thanks a lot in advance.
