Hi there,
I was wondering if there is anyone out here, who has had experience with the extension of statement of need from the Govt of Canada for a fellowship position. I have talked to the canadian govt and they insist that we need to take all the medical council of canada liscencing exams inorder to extent the letter. But this means a lot of $$$$ and a lot of time to study for these exams. I have secured a fellowship position and now need statement of need extension. My program director feels that he can write to the Govt of canada on my behalf and get me the letter without problem. But I am not sure this is gonna work? PLease advise if anyone has any experience with this.

Wow thats really generous of your PD. I did enquire about this too and they told me u do need to write your canadian exams. But if your PD is confident, y not give it a shot.

Yeah but the lady at the Health Canada, seems to not like this either. She would like for me to take those exams.
So did you end up taking MCQE1 and 2 as well as apply for the preliminary assessment? Also did your PD refuse to write a letter?
I would hate to think that this will work the following year and in the end the Govt of Canada insists on those exams and I end up giving up my fellowship...
