Hi guys, I have been a silent observer of this forum and prepared my step 1 with the advise i collected from all your exam experience posts. I was really shocked m preparation was for 9 months i got 65% average unused and in UW i got 68%. On USMLE cd i got 42, 38 , 40. I never did NBME, but i was confident and took the exam. My biggest guess is i messed up on the exam day, i opened my First Aid 2hrs before the exam, i got really tensed and i felt i was not remembering anything so all my confidence had gone by the time i reached the center. After that all the things went wrong, i was not able to finish the first 2 blocks, 1st block 6 qs unanswered, 2nd block 2qs. Finally i was back myself from the 3rd block and tried to concentrate and finished the remaining blocks in time, By the way that was a really tiring exam. I need some advise guys. I am planning to apply for IM and peds like both the fields equally, I'm an IMG. i already passed my cs in first attempt. Is there any chance i can get a residency with this step 1 score Please advise guys i am preparing for step 2 but i am finding it too hard to concentrate because of this thought. I thank you all in advance for your help

u know why the reason .. u r not doing well on st 1 , so learned that lesson , since u r Only One Step away to residency so go get ur 99 in step 2 . Since u already kn why u did not doing well in exm, so do not repeat the same mistake What u r doing now is same as the st 1 D day opening up FA get tense, lost of confidence . Past is the past even slpit sec ago , so.....u cannot go back by doing so to get it right . STOP ......wasting ur precious time . Go study well for st 2 , this time put away all ur books or send to far away frds house so by time u done well studying st 2 , so u will not b tempting to open the FA or what ever on the morning again or simply send to basement dungeon or lock in the chest without key in ur hands u did get over 80 so , u r good , even ppl with lower score get the residency 2 yr or few yr ago back & already done & MD working doc alreday so , work on st 2 , CV, LOR, usce & go for it . congrats! u ll surely get residency .. in fact if u score good in step 2 that ll help further , and PD s notice this thing many times.. so go ahead , with determination , everyone makes mistakes , few realize their mistakes , fewer learn from them..
