Hi, I am currently in my third year of residency and starting to look for J1 waiver jobs. I understand that it takes upto 18 months to get the waiver processed. I still have not taken the USMLE Step 3 and have a baby on the way. Was wondering if this exam is required prior to starting the application? Any info would be very helpful.

It may not get in the way of a job, but it might be part of the licensing requirement for the state that you will need to be licensed in.
